Hi, Well the list comes through again - 40 (+) replies - a record? This is something people obviously need to do *and* I obviously didn't look hard enough - as they say the true power of ArcView is 'under the hood' - anyway... The solutions break down pretty much as follows: - the use of an ODB file, available at the ESRI site - works for layouts and views, etc - thanks for the various add-ons to this, especially from Bruce Cotton (a fellow Aussie!) - this is definitely something to explore - purpose written scripts and extensions (Greg Krakow's 'DocClone.avx', 'copyview.ave, Minnesota DNR default extension, etc) - again a lot of these work for more than just views - the potentially quickest way - and 'clean' - is to select the themes in the view you want (shift-click), copy from the Edit menu or Ctrl-C, make a new view, and Ctrl-V. ArcView copies the specific theme name, 'symbology' (sic!), etc - sweet! Thanks for all the scripts guys - I have a huge stapled pile of paper on my desk to digest! Thanks, in no particular order, to: - Bruce Cotton - Kate Hubbs - Marie Mills - Tina Tam - Greg Krakow - Michael Batcher - Lindsay Mason - David Trillo Montero - Frank Razem - John Burt - Nathan K. Eaton - Gary Barden - Lora Gerard - Martin Sokolich - Mark Harris - Andrew Hands - Pete Wilkins - Bill Chappell - Susan Coleman - Jan Benson - Brian Green - Christie Kearney - Margaret Gooding - Yew Yuan - Dave Hoehne - John MacNaughton - Michael Kohler - Rolf Aa. Broch - Danielle Vasquez - Charles Smith - Matt Franz - Andrea Newman - Mary Stallings - Tim Loesch - Whitney Weber - Tara Montgomery - Michael Ciscell - Ray Montgomery - Lon Sharp - Robert van Waasbergen - anyone else I missed Regards, GREG... ----------------------------------- Greg Cocks wrote: > Hi, > > This may not be possible, but any thoughts on how to copy a view in its > entirety?
